SSAISD Board of Trustees Approves 2024-2025 Staff Raises
On Wednesday, June 19th, The South San Antonio Independent School District (SSAISD) Board of Trustees approved the 2024-2025 Compensation Plan at the June regular board meeting.
The approved compensation plan features a 2% pay increase for all employees in the district. Starting pay for a first-year teacher will be $59,350. Instructional aides, custodians, and bus drivers will receive a 3%-8% increase and food service workers will receive a 10% increase.
“Through collaboration with the board and the superintendent, we were able to give our employees a much-needed raise,” Board President Manuel Lopez said. “Every person in our district deserves to be compensated well for their hard work”.
Overall, SSAISD’s total compensation package will cost an estimated $1.7 million for the 2024-2025 school year and this pay increase will go into effect beginning next school year.
“In order to remain competitive and reward our faculty and staff for the work they do each and every day,” Superintendent Henry Yzaguirre. “We must ensure that our employees are paid well, as it benefits both them and the students of our district.”
