SSAISD Partners with Eagles Flight Advocacy and Outreach for Community Support
On Thursday, February 15, SSAISD CARE Zone announced its partnership with Eagles Flight, a local outreach program offering family services, during a walk-through ceremony at CARE Zone’s facility.
Established in 2019, the CARE Zone provides district counseling services for students and families at no cost. These services include clothing, food, Medicaid and food stamp application assistance, ESL classes, and school supplies.
The CARE Zone collaborates with programs such as Restore Education, Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, and social work opportunities aiming to serve the community and support the district.
SSAISD is eager to continue working with programs that supply aid to our community. Therefore, Eagles Flight will be a new addition to our counseling services and provide for families in need. Founded in 2012, CEO Pamela Allen initially designed Eagles Flight Outreach and Advocacy (EFAO) as a program to help families with disabilities. It has since expanded into a program that assists in resources such as food, clothing, and counseling services for families in need.
Director of Guidance and Counseling Carlos Gallardo, voices, “Through our new partnership, with Eagles Flight, students, families, and communities will have access to new opportunities.” Furthermore, Eagles Flight leveraged its existing partnerships to provide additional supplies and support to SSAISD. Kym’s Kupboard provides a food pantry for families in crises, Lillie’s Legacy assists in clothing for families of all ages, Jovonie’s Hugs Providers supplies baby necessities, and Empowerment Services Provide offers counseling services for families who have experienced trauma, abuse, or bullying.
SSAISD believes that Eagles Flight's outreach and advocacy align with its mission and core values, providing essential assistance to South San Antonio's community. Gallardo emphasized, “Together, our partnerships and their resources enable us to serve a wide range of needs throughout our South San Antonio ISD Community.”
