South San Antonio ISD Proud to Announce New District 7 Board Member
In a Special Called Board of Trustee Meeting on July 13, South San Antonio ISD (SSAISD) Board of Trustees voted to appoint Mr. Joe Araiza to the District 7 seat.
He is a product of public education on the Southside and looks forward to making an impact during his time as a trustee.
“I’m big on a lot of the career and technical programs that are offered. I’d like to see how those can be built upon and improved to provide more opportunities to those who don’t take the traditional college route,” Araiza said. “I believe that it will help bring students back that we have lost to the increase in charter schools in the area.”
He currently works in the home health/hospice industry, working with veterans who are in need of prosthetics.
Outside of work and trustee business, he said that he loves to travel with his family. They visit local theme parks and have even recently visited Disney World.
“My kids are getting older, so any chance that I have to make some memories with them, I take it,” he said.
Araiza says he will be open to all ideas and is willing to listen to anyone.
“I come in with good intentions and an open mind,” he stated. “Through collaboration, we can figure out what works and what doesn’t and hopefully we can get this district back to where it needs to be.”
SSAISD is very excited to have him become a part of the family. Welcome back Mr. Araiza!
