SSAISD will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch during extended home stay

UPDATE: Time change for free curbside meal service starting Monday, March 23.

To help minimize contact we will be moving to a once per day pickup lunch/breakfast kit for free meal distribution, Mon. - Thurs., 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Friday's meals will be included in Thursday's pickup. Children 18 and under are able to receive free meals & must be present to receive meals. Each “to go” meal will include lunch and breakfast. Locations will remain the same: Five Palms, Carrillo, Palo Alto, and Kindred.

Everyone knows a good breakfast is a great way to start the day. All students at the South San Antonio Independent School District will not see an interruption in that daily ritual as the district extends it extended break during the COVID 19 epidemic.

The staff is preparing some very healthy and delicious offerings to help students keep their minds sharp and their tummies full as they continue their education from home.

A pick-up breakfast and lunch will be offered at Five Palms, Kindred, Palo Alto, and Carrillo Elementary Schools.

“Amazing work by our staff in challenging times! Thank you for taking care of our kiddos,” said SSAISD board Vice President Kevin Rasco.

It’s the tireless commitment to the district’s students that keeps all working nutrition staff even more determined to make this challenging time a little less stressful.

“Thank you, lunch ladies, for your help in feeding the children,” said SSAISD Facebook follower Nancy Fadness Adams.

During this time, meals will include healthy selections, including a main dish with fruits, vegetables, and milk.

“Thanks to the foodservice department,” South San ISD parent Irael Zenaida Guerra said. “You ladies rock!”

Every child wanting a meal must be present.
