TEA Selects South San ISD for Inaugural Lone Star Governance Exemplar Cohort and Mentor District
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced on October 3, 2018, that the South San Antonio Independent School District has been selected along with seven other districts to be part of the inaugural Lone Star Governance (LSG) Exemplar Cohort.
The LSG is designed for high-performing local governing teams such as school board members and their superintendents, that want to continue honing their intense focus on one primary objective: improving student outcomes.
“The leadership at these eight school districts is already demonstrating effective governance practices where the success of every student is the focus,” said Commissioner of Education Mike Morath.
South San ISD is the only San Antonio area school district to be selected for the distinction.
LSG Cohort members will be sharing best practices from their experiences to help strengthen leadership in districts statewide. The cohort members will also be presenting at various regional, state and national conferences in the coming year.
In addition, Commissioner Morath announced South San ISD and Midland ISD have been named LSG mentor districts for the Exemplar Cohort members. The designation signifies that the two districts have already been implementing the Lone Star Governance framework for more than a year and have a wealth of knowledge about the system.
