EMT students learn how to assess an emergency call patient

"911, what’s your emergency?"
It’s the call some South San HS seniors hope to answer one day as paramedics.
They’re enrolled in our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.
This week, the students learned about basic patient assessment, one of the first steps that are taken when responding to an emergency call. The students learned how to take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse and respiration rate. Once a patient is assessed, a paramedic can determine if the person is considered in a stable or in a critical situation. Students enrolled in our EMT program can go on to earn industry related certifications.
