Carrillo ES students get a glimpse into science world with Geekbus

A high-tech science bus, known as the Geekbus, rolled up to
Carrillo Elementary School and gave students a glimpse into
the science world.
Fourth grade students boarded the mobile science lab and
classroom for an up close look at 3D printers, robotics, and
electronics.
Carrillo Elementary Principal Dr. Raul Hinojosa said the
students were fascinated by the 3D printer. “This type of
hands-on experience is important. It gets them curious about
how things work,” said Principal Hinojosa.
The lessons continued back in the classroom with straw
made rockets. Students learned the physics behind
launching rockets across the room.
The Geekbus travels to San Antonio area schools to provide
onsite Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(STEM) educational experiences. A STEM instructor leads
the science lesson both on the bus and in the classroom.
