Coach Veronica Valdez
Hello Cougar Family!
I am Coach Veronica Valdez and I have been serving the South San Antonio Community for 15 years and have been in education for a total of 18 years. I am a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in 1999. In the previous years, I have worked as a P.E. teacher and assisted in the volleyball and softball programs; helping turn multiple programs around, improving programs dynamics, structure and culture.
In high school, I participated in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball programs at Varsity level. I received multiple accolades throughout my high school career ranging from 1st team-All_District to All-Academic demonstrating true leadership qualities. After completing my high school career, I attended Texas A&M University- Kingsville and obtained a Bachelors of Science majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Biology. Reminiscing about my success in high school, I knew there were certain individuals who positively influenced my life. More specific, I remember one coach that made a positive impact not only for me but for others as well. I felt the urge to give back and try to make a difference. So, I set out to go into the realm of Education. Paying tribute to those moments of change, I naturally fell into coaching. I realized that I too could make a difference and inspire the youth through something I love to do. I knew without my coaches and teachers, I would have been extremely lost. My passion and talent for education and sports quickly blossomed into a successful career.
I believe that dedication, collaboration, and resiliency are essential for a thriving school culture. The key to creating successful students and teachers is to believe in your "why" during the positive and most trying times. I look forward to continuing to work with the South San Antonio West Campus Community to help promote a successful and positive environment where students feel challenged, cared for and empowered.
I not only serve the South San Antonio West Campus community, but also a mother of three phenomenal children, 2 beautiful girls and one amazing son. My family loves this community and looks forward to continuing to be apart of it. West Campus is family, it is home.
