Mrs. Sharon Garza

Hello Cougars! My name is Sharon Garza and I am the English/Social Studies Instructional Coach here at West Campus. I have been in the education field since 2007 and I have taught 9-12 grade English. I worked in Edgewood for six years and Northside for seven years prior to coming to South San. I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in 2017 and my Principal's certification in 2019. Teaching is my second career and I absolutely love what I do. Creating lessons, teaching and supporting students is more that a just a job to me. I love coming to work everyday and look forward to what each day will bring.

Here at West Campus, we want to ensure that our students are learning and growing. I believe that every student, given the opportunity and support, can be successful. It is important for them to take ownership of their education. It is our goal that when the students leave our school, they will be well prepared for the next step in their journey. Supporting the English and Social Studies teachers as they create and implement engaging and challenging lessons for the students is one of my main priorities.

Supporting the teachers and creating curriculum is only part of my responsibility. I am also here to support our students and parents. If you have any concerns or need help, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to help you and your student. Together we can make sure our students succeed.

I have lived in the San Antonio area most of my life. I have three children: Kristin (26), Chase (23), and Jake (18). One of my favorite things to do, when I am not on campus, is to spend time with my six grandchildren. My husband, Art, and I have four granddaughters - Mackenzei (9), Kinslee (5), Danyelle (3), and Victoria (1). We are also blessed with two grandsons - Peyton (8) and Colt (1). Between my kids and our grandchildren, we stay busy on the weekends. On the rare occasion we have a quiet weekend, I love to read, watch movies with my husband, and sit on my back porch.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to be part of the West Campus family. Go Cougars!
