Bernadine F. Martinez
Dear Parents and Students of Carrillo Elementary School,
Welcome back for an exciting school year! I am honored to have been selected as your new Principal and am looking forward to meeting and working with each one of you throughout your educational experience. I extend a warm welcome to all of you and look forward to embracing the Athens community as well.
Before becoming Principal, I was the Early Childhood Director for the past three years here at South San Antonio ISD, an early childhood specialist for grades Prek-2nd grade at Judson ISD, and have taught kindergarten through third grade in previous school districts. I believe that my experience will help guide my decisions as we work together to help all students achieve and be prepared for success. My passion is providing what is best for kids.
We have an excellent school with a positive school culture. Our compassionate, skilled teachers, staff, and faculty members know how to help students learn and want what is best for them. Our students are eager to give the best effort and learn.
Our partnership with the families of our students as well as other community members and organizations is a key part of our success. Students benefit as parents and guardians are involved in their formal education. We should have consistent communication between home and school for families to learn about what is happening at school and provide feedback to help us improve. Many parents and other community members contribute to our school through volunteering and donations. I welcome you to become part of the school community. Like all schools, we have opportunities for improvement, and our aspiration is to unite with you to help everyone succeed. Please be involved.
Over the next several weeks, I will be meeting with school and community leaders to learn more about the strengths and needs of CES. I welcome your input via email firstname.lastname@example.org; phone call, or through a personal meeting that can be scheduled through my assistant, Mrs. Caroline Hernandez, at 210-977-7550. Your input is valuable to CES success as we embark on this transition and establish goals for this school year.
After meeting with various groups of students, employees, parents, and community members, the CILT members will review the feedback and work to establish goals. You will be able to stay informed of these goals and our progress through the school website (www.southsanisd.net), school Twitter, newsletters, and future meetings.
Again, welcome to the new school year and I look forward to working with all of you in making Carrillo the best it has ever been!
