Welcome Palo Alto Students and Families
My name is Mrs. Sanchez. I am happy to begin my third year at Palo Alto Elementary. I have worked for the South San Antonio District for 17 years at both the elementary and secondary level. I am a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University and Webster University. I am happy to meet with parents/guardians regarding student concerns, to address individual needs and coordinate resources and to support students and their families.

COUNSELING VISION
The South San ISD Comprehensive School Counseling Program advocates for all students by providing services that promote equitable access to learning and support for each student's individual social-emotional, personal, academic, and career development through the establishment of trusting relationships and partnerships with families, school staff, and community members.
SCHOOL COUNSELOR ROLE
- To advocate for students and work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators and the community to provide needed resources for students.
- To assist students with their academic, career development and personal/social needs.
- To assist students with education, personal, career, and goal planning.
- To develop personalized programs based on each student's strengths and needs.
- To help students explore their strengths and to help build on their talents.
- To assist students in identifying and dealing with obstacles.
- To provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- To coordinate referrals to school and community support services.
- To serve as a resource for students, parents, teachers and administrators.
