    Dr. Frank Zavala
    Principal

     
    Dr. Frank Zavala comes from a family of educators. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a doctorate from Walden University. Dr. Zavala is looking forward to an incredible school year! He loves to inspire and encourage students to be the best they can be in and out of the classroom!
    Dr. Zavala began working for the South San Antonio Independent School District in 2013. He worked for the Head Start Department before becoming the Assistant Principal at Kindred Elementary where he spent 4 years. Most recently he spent the 2019-2020 school year as the Principal of Shepard Middle School. Prior to coming to South San ISD, he worked as an Assistant Principal at the elementary school, middle school, and high school levels. Dr. Zavala has also been a coach as well as an Adjunct Professor for Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Concordia University.

    Students and parents can expect an open door policy from someone who is passionate about education, is fair and listens to both sides of any issues that may come up. He advises them to be open and honest and try their hardest because that’s what he’s going to do.

    As he enters his 17th year as an educator, Zavala makes sure to take time to enjoy some hobbies. An avid Notre Dame college football fan and a loyal San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia Eagles supporter.
