Mrs. Christy Shedd

Hello!  I'm so glad you are here!  My name is Mrs. Shedd.  This is my third year teaching 6th grade science at Shepard Middle School.

I have lived in San Antonio for over 20 years.  I am a graduate of Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.  I attended Texas A&M University, Kingsville and was graduated with a Bachelor of Science.  I majored in biology and minored in chemistry.  I was an undergraduate laboratory teaching assistant for four and a half years at TAMUK, teaching introductory biology and botany labs as well as microbiology labs.  More recently, I spent seven years as a substitute teacher for North East Indpendent School District.  I joined South San Independent School District for the 2019-2020 school year.

My husband and I have two sons, aged 17 and 13.  I love to go camping and hiking with my family.  I also love to hunt for fossils, garden and cook ALL the food!

I look forward to interacting with all of the students in my class.  Science in 6th grade is very exciting!  We get to learn about so many different topics during our time together:  physics, chemistry, geology, energy production, astronomy and biology.  There really is something for everyone.  I always try to make science as hands-on as possible.  I hope to find the inner scientist in every student!
