Alan B. Shepard Middle School

Course Outcome:

Throughout a student’s three years in the band program at Shepard Middle School, it is our goal that they become a proficient musician, ready for a high school ensemble.

This is done by adhering to the local curriculum guide, which also relates directly to the state and music standards.

Middle School Band is open to any student with some level of previous instrumental experience, though performance in elementary band is always preferred.

The primary focus of the band is to expose students to new music that offers new and exciting challenges.

New rhythms and musical styles, as well as scales will be the backbone of those challenges.

Students will meet daily as a class, with lessons provided at various times each day.

Over the course of the year, students can expect to perform in formal concerts and/or spring assemblies.
