Digital Safety for Students
South San Antonio ISD Partners with Region 20 and CyManII to Support Texas HB 18
Published: November 7, 2025
South San Antonio ISD, in collaboration with Education Service Center, Region 20, is partnering with the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII) at UTSA to support implementation of the required learning objectives in Texas House Bill 18 (HB 18).
Signed into law in June 2023, HB 18—also known as the Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE) Act—establishes measures to help protect minors from harmful online content and data collection practices.
What This Means for Our Students and Families
- Age-appropriate digital safety lessons: Short, focused modules that teach students how to recognize and avoid online threats.
- Support for educators: Aligned resources that make it easier to meet HB 18’s learning objectives in the classroom.
- Family engagement: Guidance and take-home tips that empower parents/guardians to reinforce healthy digital habits.
About the Partnership
Through this collaboration, South San Antonio ISD will leverage CyManII’s micro-learning content and Region 20’s implementation support to bring high-quality, practical cybersecurity education to our learners.
