The South San Antonio I.S.D. Police Department is an essential component in the diverse fabric of the community it serves.
Achieving a higher standard of professionalism, earning public confidence and trust requires a spirit of close interaction with those we serve. The police department takes pride in preserving and cultivating trust through open communication with the community. South San Antonio I.S.D. Police Department is dedicated to protect and serve the future. We accomplish this by collaborative efforts with the school district and the community it serves; therefore, the focus of all our officers is to work as a positive influence to the students by providing a safe learning environment.

Are South San Police Officers real Police Officers?
Yes. All South San Police Officers have commissioned peace officers licensed by the State of Texas. They have full arrest powers and authority.
Whom do School District Police Officers work for?
School district Police Officers work for the district that commissions them Under the Education Code of the State of Texas, school district police officers are supervised by the Chief of Police of the district. This matter is designated by law under 37.081 of the Texas Education Code. The Chief of Police of the district reports to the Superintendent of Schools.
Can South San I.S.D. Police Officers make arrests off campus?
Yes. South San Police Officers can arrest offenders of the law both on and off-campus.
Can a South San I.S.D. Police Officer issue me a traffic ticket?
Yes. South San Police Officers are authorized to issue traffic citations. We have some traffic units that monitor speed in school zones using radar, on or off school property.
What court do I go to if I get a ticket from a South San I.S.D. Police Officer?
If you receive a ticket from a South San Police Officer, you will be required to appear in the appropriate San Antonio Municipal Court.
What happens if I don't pay for my ticket?
If you do not appear in Court or pay your fine, a warrant for your arrest may be issued by the appropriate Court.

What is South San Antonio I.S. D. Police Department Jurisdiction?
The South San Antonio I.S.D. Police Department covers over 18 schools and facilities spanning 21 square miles. This is to include the south and southwest portions of the City of San Antonio with adjoining sections of Lackland AFB and Kelly USA.
The South San Police Department's jurisdiction includes all the geographical territory within the boundaries of the District's 21 square miles, as well as on any property outside of the District that is owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the Board of Trustees.

Crosswalk Safety Tips
Below are some important safety tips for using the crosswalks. Whether you walk, bike or drive, take a few seconds to read and follow these crosswalk safety guidelines:
Pedestrians:
- Always cross at marked crosswalks.
- Obey any pedestrian signals and look left right left. By doing this you ensure that the road is clear in both directions before crossing.
- If a vehicle approaches, make eye contact with the driver to be sure they see you before you cross.
- Look before walking past stopped vehicles. Do not cross just because a driver waves you on. Be sure all lanes are clear first.
- Remember that bicyclists are not considered pedestrians unless they are walking their bikes. Otherwise, they are considered vehicles.
Bicyclists:
- Yield to pedestrians.

- Obey vehicular traffic signals and laws on the roadways.
- Use extra caution as you transition between bike paths, roads, and sidewalks. Be aware that your actions are unpredictable to drivers and pedestrians.
Drivers:
- Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks and at intersections.
- Be prepared to stop at all marked crosswalks. Stay alert and reduce speed in areas with crosswalks.
- Come to a complete stop if pedestrians are crossing or preparing to cross.
- Wait until pedestrians have crossed at least one lane past the lane you are in before resuming travel.
- Never pass another vehicle that has stopped or is slowing down at a crosswalk.
