Head Start PreK Staff

Rebecca Herrera is the Program Manager of South San Antonio ISD, bringing over 24 years of experience in Pre-K–12 education, including 18 years in administrative roles, to her critical leadership position. In this role, she is dedicated to providing a safe and stimulating environment for young children in the district's early childhood programs, coordinating all organizational functions, and working with the Superintendent to design, implement, and evaluate program systems. Her expertise, especially in representing the agency in local, regional, state, and national communities for Head Start, makes her an ideal mentor and coach for aspiring leaders. Ms. Herrera's previous experience includes serving as the inaugural principal of the Menchaca Early Childhood Center at Southside ISD in 2018, where she supervised over 100 staff members and 900 students, and achieved media recognition for the school. A highly credentialed professional, she holds a Ph.D. (ABD) in Educational Leadership, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, alongside her impactful service as the President of the Texas Elementary Principal Supervisor Association (TEPSA) for Region 20, a former board member of the Texas Association of Administrators and Supervisors of Programs for Young Children (TAASPYC), and a current member of the Junior League of San Antonio. Ms. Herrera is also a devoted wife of 33 years, mother of three wonderful children, and proud grandmother of four amazing granddaughters.
