CARE Zone

 

South San Antonio Independent School District's CARE Zone (carezone@southsanisd.net) is located at 2454 W. Southcross, San Antonio, TX 78211. Since opening our doors in 2019, we have offered no-cost mental wellness services. 
These evidence-based services include: individual, group, family, and substance abuse counseling, as well as psychiatry, and community education groups.

The CARE Zone also partners with the agencies listed below. This form can be used if you need assistance with clothes, ESL classes, food, Medicaid and food stamp application assistance, or school supplies.

 San Antonio Threads

San Antonio Threads is a non-profit organization providing new clothing and accessories for referred at-risk teens in the San Antonio Area. If you would like to recommend an at-risk student between the ages of 12-21 to receive this service, please contact the school counselor

San Antonio Food Bank 

The San Antonio Food Bank along with South San Antonio ISD host a monthly food drive on the 4th Tuesday of the month. In addition to the food drive, the CARE Zone has a fully stocked food pantry (foodpantry@southsanisd.net) on site to serve our students, families, and community.

Restore Education

Restore Education delivers education, workforce, and post-secondary education and training transition outcomes for students through innovative service delivery and partnerships that result in efficiencies, alignment, and accountability. ESL classes are offered at our CARE Zone, for more information, call 210-977-7304.

Eagles Flight

Eagles Flight assists with food, clothing, and a baby pantry, ensuring that families facing financial difficulties have access to the necessities. These resources can make a significant difference in stabilizing families during tough times and helping them get back on their feet.  

Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas

The Children's Bereavement Center helps children and their caregivers understand the depth of grief, stabilize and preserve family relationships, and cope with the loss of their loved one. Support services include peer support groups and individual counseling for children. Support services are offered both at the CARE Zone and at schools within the district. Contact your child's school counselor for more information or call the CARE Zone directly. 

Internship Opportunities

CARE Zone is also a learning environment for Master Social Work students from surrounding universities. For internship opportunities, contact the Lead Social Worker, Ron Flores, MS, LSMW-IPR at 210-860-5086. Tasks for college students range from counseling, groups, case management, resource and referral and shadowing other mental health professionals.
