• Open Records Request Form

    The Texas Public Information Act (the “Public Information Act” or the “Act”) gives the public the right to request access to government information. Below is a description of the basic procedures, rights, and responsibilities under the Act.

    Texas Law states you have the right to gain government records and government officials may not ask why you are requesting them. Certain restrictions apply to the disclosure of certain information and may involve The Texas Attorney General for further review.

    Right of the Requestor


    • To be accommodating in the event it is needed under accordance with the ADA.
    • Prompt access to the information requested if the information is not confidential or protected as concluded by the Attorney General’s Office.
    • Ask for a ruling from the Office of the Attorney General in the event the information is to be withheld and inform you the requester of such outcome.


    Non- Public Information

    • Information in personnel files
    • Information relating to litigation of a criminal or civil nature and settlement negotiations
    • Information, that if released would give an edge to potential bidders, or competitors.
    • Drafts and active documents pertaining to the preparation of proposed policies
    • Information that is confidential by law, by either constitutional, statutory, or judicial decisions.


    Cost Provisions

    Section 552.275 in the Public Information Handbook states that a governmental body is authorized to establish a reasonable limit, not less than 36 hours in a 12 month period, on the amount of time that personnel is required to spend producing public information for inspection or copies to a requester, without recovering the costs attributable to the personnel time related to that requester. 



    The charge for Standard Paper copies reproduced by means of an office copier or a computer printer is $.10 per page. Each side that has recorded information is considered a page. Emails’ are considered paper copies. Accepted forms of payment are money orders only made to SSAISD or South San Antonio ISD.

    *The actual cost of miscellaneous supplies, such as labels, boxes, and other supplies used to produce the requested information, may be added to the total charge for public information. Pursuant to the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts’ rules, sales tax shall not be added on charges for public information. (34 TAC, Part 1, Chapter 3, Subchapter O, Sections 3.341 and 3.342).
