    Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

    The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides eligible employees of covered employers with 12 weeks of unpaid leave in the event of a serious personal for family illness. During family and medical leave, employees are entitled to job protection and continuation of health care benefits (employer contribution). A school district employee is eligible for Family Medical to Leave for a qualifying event if ALL of the following are true:

    The district has 50 or more employees employed within a 75-mile radius
    The employee has been employed by the district for at least 12 months
    The employee has worked 1,250 hours in the 12 months immediately preceding the commencement of leave
