• The South San Antonio ISD Migrant Education Program (MEP) is committed to be a first class educational program which views cultural and language diversity as a positive element in today's global village. It is without a doubt that migrant children deserve the same opportunities to reach the same challenging state performance standards that all children are expected to meet and successfully transition into postsecondary education or employment.

The goal of the MEP is to:

Design and support programs that help migrant students overcome challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle.

Support high-quality and comprehensive educational programs for migrant children of South San Antonio I.S.D. in order to reduce the educational disruption and other problems that can result from repeated moves.

Ensure that migrant children who move among the states are not penalized in any manner by disparities among the states in curriculum, graduation requirements, and state academic content and student academic achievement standards.

Ensure that migrant children are provided with appropriate educational services (including supportive services) that address their special needs in a coordinated and efficient manner.

Ensure that migrant children receive full and appropriate opportunities to meet the same challenging state academic content and student achievement standards that all children are expected to meet.

Assist migrant parents with additional support services for their children which assists them in fostering an educational environment geared for academic success.
