Welcome to South San Antonio Independent School District's Fine Arts

    About

South San Antonio ISD aims to engage, inspire, challenge, and educate students beginning at the Elementary level through the Secondary levels of middle school and high school. The Fine Arts Department encompasses art, dance, music, and theatre arts courses offered at most campuses.

An all-inclusive curriculum of visual art, music, and theatre is offered at each of our eight elementary campuses. This course will culminate in a showcase each semester for parents and community members to observe and applaud students as artists.

Our three middle school campuses offer a variety of visual art, dance, band (including mariachi), and theatre arts courses to prepare students with foundational concepts that allow them to excel in their chosen medium in high school.

At our high school, our teachers focus on specialized techniques to expand student's skills, knowledge, and appreciation for their chosen visual or performative art to prepare students either for a career in the arts for a life-long appreciation.

Be sure to check our calendar to see upcoming events happening in South San Antonio ISD. If you need to contact a staff member at any campus, please see our staff directory.

    District-Wide Events:

Each year South San Antonio ISD is pleased to host several district-wide events to spotlight our creative and talented students in a special way.

In 2024 we hosted our first ever District Fine Arts Showcase featuring student performances, art walks, community artwork and activities, and information booths.

In the Fall, all three of our middle schools come together for a day of theatre and compete in a District Middle School One Act Play Festival. Students learn about the contest by experiencing it first hand, so they are ready to take the spotlight in high school. In the 24-25 school year we will be partnering with Southwest ISD to combine and make an even bigger contest for our students.
